The right microfiber cloth does half the work in detailing – the wrong type can cause expensive wax or ceramic coatings to be spread unevenly or scratch the paintwork.
In this category, you will find four basic types: pearl cloths with a fine pearl weave, ideal for applying and buffing waxes and ceramic coatings; universal terry cloths for general wiping and absorbent tasks; fluffy boa cloths with long pile primarily intended for drying paint after washing; and waffle cloths with a waffle structure, which are best suited for glass, mirrors, and applying quick detailers. Our own NOX range covers three of these types in the same 40×40 cm size – FiberOne and FiberWipe for general wiping, FiberBOA for drying, and VisionOne for glass.
Choose based on purpose, not price – each type has a different pile density and absorbency.
How to Choose a Microfiber Cloth and Care for It Properly
A microfiber towel is more than just a towel – the pile’s density, length, and structure determine what it’s suitable for and whether it’s safe to use on paint or leather surfaces. The wrong choice can leave fine scratches or so-called holograms in the paint after just one use.
Pearl towels
The pearl weave is extremely soft and gentle – ideal for applying and buffing off waxes, sealants, and ceramic coatings, where it’s crucial to leave no streaks or lint behind. Thanks to its short pile, it absorbs very little product and spreads it evenly.
Terry towels
A classic, versatile terry weave with good absorbency. Suitable for everyday wiping, interior cleaning, and applying products where the extreme softness of pearl towels isn’t necessary. This category includes, for example, FiberOneand FiberWipefrom our own NOX brand.
Boa towels (long pile)
The long, fluffy pile makes boa towels the best choice for drying paintwork after washing– they hold a large amount of water, and the depth of the pile minimizes the risk of dragging dirt across the paint as you wipe the surface. The FiberBOAby NOX is designed specifically for this purpose.
Waffle towels
The waffle weave has less contact with the surface, making it ideal for windows, mirrors, and glass in general– it leaves no lint or streaks and dries quickly. A typical example is VisionOnefrom our own NOX range.
How to care for microfiber towels
To preserve their absorbency and softness, wash towels separately from other laundry at a maximum of 40°C, without fabric softener – it clogs the fibers, reducing the towel’s absorbency and ability to pick up dirt. Use a special microfiber detergent or a regular laundry gel without softeners, and select a syntheticscycle. Avoid tumble-drying and high temperatures, as microfiber is heat-sensitive and could be damaged.
