Gray, faded plastics are not just a matter of appearance – the loss of color signals that the surface has lost its natural protection against the sun and may start to crack over time. This treatment not only stops the process, but can also visibly restore the color of slightly faded plastics to black.

How color restoration from gray to black works

The product fills microscopic pores and the oxidized, UV-damaged surface layer with pigment or a thin polymer film. The result is an optically richer, deeper black – not a recoloring, but a restoration of the plastic’s original shade.

UV protection and how long it lasts

UV filters in the treatment block sunlight, the main cause of plastic fading and cracking. Depending on sun exposure and how often the car is washed, the protection typically lasts from several weeks to 2–3 months, after which a new layer should be applied.

Matte vs. glossy finish

A matte/satin effect maintains the plastic’s natural, factory-fresh look without shine. A glossy finish gives plastics a more pronounced, “wet” contrast – especially popular on bumpers and trim, where you want to make the plastic stand out more.

How to apply the treatment

The plastic must first be clean and degreased (see the plastic cleaningcategory) – a treatment applied to a dirty or greasy surface won’t adhere and will wear off quickly. Apply the product in a thin, even layer, let it soak in briefly, then wipe away any excess with a clean cloth so the surface doesn’t feel greasy or attract dust.
