The polisher provides the motion that, together with the compound and pad, does the actual work. In our range, you will find orbital (dual action, DA) polishers with a throw from 8–9 mm (the safest, ideal for beginners and maintenance), through universal 12–15 mm, up to the most aggressive 21 mm for quick correction of larger areas, and mini polishers for details, mirrors, or tight spaces where a large head cannot fit.

How to Choose a Paint Polisher Based on Its Orbit and Size

Unlike a rotary polisher, a DA polisher’s head both rotates and moves in an orbital pattern. This means that even if the pad gets stuck in one place, there’s no risk of burning through the paint, making a DA polisher a safe choice even for beginners.

Which orbit size to choose

A smaller orbit (8–9 mm) is the safest and slowest option, suitable for maintenance polishing and beginners. A medium orbit (12–15 mm) is the most versatile choice and handles most corrections. The largest orbit (21 mm) works the fastest and is ideal for larger corrections, but requires more experience with polishing technique.

Mini polishers for detailing

The smaller head and compact body can reach places a large polisher can’t—emblems, mirrors, pillars, or narrow trim. They use smaller pads (45–76 mm).

What to consider when choosing

In addition to orbit size, consider the power (watts) for faster work on large surfaces, the weight and handle ergonomics for longer jobs, and battery life for cordless models.
